Given the challenges that citizens typically experience in finding and visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, especially in rural areas, the UIDAI is planning to unveil Door to Door Adhaar services in near future.
In many remote parts of the country, Aadhaar Seva Kendras are often located at a distance from the residences of rural villagers. Add to that, in some remote areas, lower internet penetration even hampers access to services that are otherwise available online. However, things may improve soon, as according to a report carried by the Economic Times, the UIDAI authority is training postmen of India Post Payment Bank for delivering Aadhaar related services like update of Mobile numbers, enrolling children, etc. Initially, the training is being imparted to about 48,000 India Post employees however there are plans for around 1.5 Lac postal officials to be trained in the second phase.
It is likely that UIDAI will provide these trained officials with the requisite equipment needed to deliver these services. These may include a computer kit for updating data. The Aadhaar authority also plans to have Seva Kendras in every district in the country in near future.
Currently, UIDAI has numerous Aadhaar Seva Kendras(ASK) across the country which offer serveral services to residents. These include the ability to update demographic information, and biometric data, and download and print Aadhaar cards amongst other services.
