Hyderabad: No more Alcohol without Aadhaar Card

Telangana’s excise and prohibition department has requested all pubs owner across Hyderabad to ensure that no one is served any form of alcohol, without showing their Aadhaar Cards, to ensure and no underage citizen in the state gets under the influence.
But these new rules don’t end here, Hyderabad government has given strict orders to all pub-owner to restrict entry of users who don’t carry their aadhaar cards. This is a small attempt held by the government to ensure that minors are not served alcohol at these clubs. The government has made it clear that nobody below the age of 21 years should be allowed in a pub.

Recently, the murder of a 17-year-old girl opened the eyes of the government, to the issue of minor drinking. During the investigation, it was revealed that the victim along with her friends has been drinking at the night of the incident. It was also revealed that the victim was an active pub-goer. This raised questions on pubs owner throughout, the country that allows the entry of minors and also serves them alcohol. The victim is identified as a Silver Oaks School’s Student. This is not the first time anything like this has happened, but it is definitely a good thing that government has opened its eyes to the issue and is planning on making it right.

R V Chandravadan, Excise Commission also shared his concerns about drunk drivers. He also feels that bars and pubs should put a restriction on liquor quantity to avoid any untoward incidents. The state has also made tie-ups with cab service providers like Uber and Ola to ensure the safety of pub-goers.

We hope that these new rules are implemented by all pub owners, and this can help in alcohol consumption as well as reduce the under-age visitors at bars and pubs. This move can be seen as an inspiration and should be implemented by all the states. We all read cases of drunk driving every day in the newspaper. There is no harm in having fun, till the time, people are responsible and mature about it.
