The Government of India took a huge step in the future of Digital India by introducing Aadhar based Id proof for a common man, which is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). UIDAI has its own web portal service which updates its users with news and information regarding Aadhaar and other schemes. Users can perform various searches and verification of aadhar using the web portal. Aadhar card is basically a unique identity which contains demographic and biometric details of a citizen. It has become an important document in recent times. The government of India is introducing new schemes whose benefits can be availed by Aadhar card. With the introduction of E-Aadhar card, one can perform the Aadhar card search by online as well as offline ways.

The article will further elaborate the step by step process to perform adhar card update status check. Nearly 99% of the Indian population has generated their aadhaar identification which was carried out at enrollment centers. It is possible that a few users might have filled wrong details or received Adhaar card with incorrect information regarding their demographics, those users can take help of online portal to update their details and later check adhar card update status.

Users can also check their aadhar card status and they can also verify aadhaar online. Step 1
Navigate the official website of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and under the Aadhaar update status section, select the option ‘Check Status – Update Done Online’. It will be redirected to a new window, where the user has to enter their 12 digit Aadhaar Number and then their 14 digit URN number. Update request number (URN) is generated when a user updates their Adhaar card details. After filling the text verification code, users can click ‘Get Status’ to check their adhar card update status.

Step 2
Users can submit the requests of change in the fields like Name, Gender, Date of Birth, address, email update and mobile phone number correction. By following step 1 you can easily perform adhar card update status check. Users must keep it in mind that they have to register their mobile numbers to further update any other detail. Users would also require genuine original scanned documents that are to be uploaded for correction. It’s not required to upload all the documents but only the ones in which users wish the corrections. Users should also remember to mark the envelope with ‘Aadhaar Correction/Update’ written on top with a proper seal.

As the users click ‘Get Status’, the site will show the actual status of the correction or update status of the Aadhar card. The status could be one of three which are ‘Under Review’, ‘Rejected’ or ‘Successful’ after adhar card update status check.                                                         
If the users see the ‘rejected’ status, it could be due to incorrect submitted details or inadequate documents or could be a manual error while filling the correction form.
If the portal shows, ‘Successful’ status, then it means that the details have been corrected as per the request of the user. Users can then check the updated details by logging into their accounts. They can also download the corrected e-aadhar from UIDAI’s official web portal.
If the users receive ‘under review’, then they are advised to wait for a few more days to get the updated aadhar card. Due to the high number of request forms, UIDAI may take up to 10 days to finally update the requested detail.
Users who received ‘Rejected’ status update have to re-fill the request form from the UIDAI web portal. Users are advised to visit the nearest Aadhar center to know the requirement of documents which are necessary for the correction. They should submit the correct documents again and submit the request form and check adhar card status update.

Step 4
If the users have submitted request form using offline methods like visiting an Enrolment Center (ECMP), then they can perform aadhaar update status check by entering the 28 digit Update Request number mentioned on the Acknowledgment slip at the center. To do so just go to UIDAI homepage, under the Aadhar Update section, select the option of ‘Check Status - Update done at Enrolment Center/ECMP’. It will take the user to another window where they have to fill the details such as Enrolment ID and randomly generated security code. EID number will contain the 14 digit enrolment number along with 14 digits of date and time of enrollment in the format dd/nn/yyyy hh: mm: ss. 
 If the users have accidentally lost their EID/UID number, they can retrieve it by OTP method on UIDAI homepage.

E-aadhaar
If the users wish to generate an e-aadhar card and avail its services on their mobile phones, they can opt for e-aadhaar download. E-Adhaar can be used in place of adhaar card and is equally important. To get the e aadhar status, go to UIDAI website, and click download aadhaar. Fill the details correctly such as Enrolment ID, Full name, Pin Code, mobile number, etc and click get one-time password. Users need to fill up the OTP received on their registered mobile number and select the option ‘Validate and Download’.  E-aadhaar will be downloaded and the details could be printed on paper as well. If users wish to check their e aadhaar status online i.e. aadhaar enrollment status, then they need to enter their 14 digit enrolment digit given in the acknowledgment slip. Users are required to enter the date and time of the enrollment. Enter the captcha code in the next step and select the option ‘Check Status’. By this way, users can easily check their e aadhaar status.
