Unique Identification
Authority of India (UIDAI) issues an Aadhaar number which till now stood close
to 990 million. Aadhaar is first online biometric-based identity system and
largest biometric database in the world. To get an Aadhaar a person needs to have
an I-card with all their details. If a person is having different personal
details in an I-card then they can enroll for Aadhaar only with those details,
because their biometrics are already in the database with those details. If a
person makes an Aadhaar with a fake identity then they won’t be able to change
that and had to stick with that fake identity for their whole life.
Let us explain this
with the help of an example- suppose Keshav Kumar fabricates his identity
documents like voter’s id or ration card in the name of Rajat Kumar. Now, if he
goes to enroll for Aadhaar in the name of Keshav Kumar he will be rejected
because his biometrics in the database is already mapped to Rajat Kumar. If a
person opens a bank account using an Aadhaar with false details and commits
crime, then it will be easier for prosecuting agencies to prove his crime
because all his acts are recorded digitally. So it is advisable by the government
to use correct I-cards for Aadhaar enrollment.
