What Happens If You Share Your Aadhar Number Publically?
Aadhar is the world’s
largest online biometric database. Aadhaar contains both demographic and
biometric information of a person. Aadhaar numbers are issued by Unique Identification
Authority of India (UIDAI). Despite the advantages, many people still have
questions regarding Aadhaar and its misuse.

The biggest myth people
have towards Aadhaar is that if they lose their Aadhaar number or someone gets to
know their Aadhaar number, then that person will hack their account and their
all confidential details will be leaked and misused. People assume that their
bank account would be hacked if they give their account number to someone else.
All these are myths created by public itself, our account numbers, Aadhar
numbers are sensitive personal identity information. Only our PIN, password
etc, are secret numbers which should not be shared with anyone else.
Giving your Aadhaar or
account number for transactional purpose won’t lead to any misuse. People
hesitate to give their Aadhaar number to someone else whether it is for some
transactional purpose or for some official purpose, because of the fear that
their Aadhaar-linked bank account would be misused. However, you should not
share your sensitive personal information on social media platforms. Giving
your Aadhaar number to someone else for some work purpose wouldn’t lead to any
misuse of your personal details.
